The Candida Control Program & Candida Recipes

by Teresa Schumacher & Toni Schumacher Lunds

Candida Albicans is one of many micro-organisms that normally lives in the gastrointestinal tract. In the healthy person, its presence is not a problem. When it goes our of control and proliferates, it can eventually damage the GI tract and spread into other organs and tissues of the body. This sequence can cause a variety of unpleasant symptoms.

Our immune system includes antibodies and white blood cells that protect our bodies. Mucous membranes line the interior cavities of our body. Below the mucous membranes are mucous-secreting glands that protect delicate membranes by coating them with mucus. When bacteria, viruses, chemicals or other substances try to invade, the mucus provides a barrier. When, for one reason or another, our immune system becomes weakened, our resistance to illness and other disease is diminished. .

Some yeast live on your mucous membranes along with millions of friendly germs. Unfriendly bacteria, viruses, allergens and other enemies also find their way into these membrane-lined passageways and cavities. If your immune system is strong, they are unable to get through into your deeper tissues and blood stream and make you sick. Illness occurs because our nutritionally deficient, debilitated bodies allow this unfriendly bacteria, viruses and allergens to set up residence. Disease is produced only when circumstances are favorable. .

Symptoms produced by Candida Albicans can include: bloating, belching, intestinal gas, constipation, diarrhea, fatigue, hay fever, allergies, insomnia, lethargy, loss of sexual desire, mental confusion, poor memory, numbness, burning, tingling, muscle aches, joint pain, abdominal pain, mood swings, indigestion, heartburn, dizziness, migraine headaches, vaginal yeast infections, bad breath, dry mouth or throat, sore throat, nasal itching or drip, erratic vision and more. .

Candida seems to strike women more often that men. The area most commonly affected in women is the vagina because of the warm, moist conditions. As with all other forms of infection, a compromised host resistance is the primary cause of Candida Albicans. The problem occurs when there is an abnormal fungus yeast growth that is normally controlled by "friendly bacteria" in the intestines.

When factors such as antibiotics, steroids (like cortisone), birth control pills and refined sugar are used in excess, "friendly bacteria" and/or specific nutrients in the blood are destroyed. Host resistance is then lowered and the yeast fungi begin to invade and colonize the body's cells, tissues, and-finally-organs. A strong, healthy immune system will, of course, contain Candida's growth. Only when host resistance is lowered can Candida invade and colonize the tissues. When colonized, these yeast fungi release toxic chemicals into the blood. Toxic chemicals produced by the Candida fungi attack the immune system, allowing the fungi to continue their tissue invasion and to cause more serious symptomatic disorders.

The Candida Control Program is a nutritional program. Candida cannot be treated with drugs; it must be treated with good nutrition and supplements. THIS MUST BE A LIFESTYLE CHANGE. Using diet, supplements and herbs to strengthen the immune system, Candida can be controlled.
